University Place Pierce County Library programs are taking a festive turn this holiday season, with numerous events planned for the whole family sponsored by Friends of the University Place Library.

Gingerbread Houses

Saturday, Dec. 5, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 6, 1-4 p.m.

Ages 6 and up with adult  

Make and decorate your own gingerbread house! All supplies provided. No registration required. Tickets distributed at the event.

Holiday Concert: Harpist Susan Haas 

Wednesday, Dec. 16, 4-6 p.m.

Enjoy traditional carols, Hanukkah favorites and popular seasonal songs in the atrium. Free event.

Puppets Please

Saturday, Dec. 19, 3:30 p.m.

Colorful marionettes perform a free, holiday-themed, in-the-round show for all ages. No registration required.

Better Every Day

Tuesday, Dec. 15, 7 p.m.

Event audience: Adult

After 25 years of writing sometimes practical, sometimes outrageous pieces in "The News Tribune," Dorothy Wilhelm shares a collection of her best columns from her new book, "Better Every Day."

Hour of Code

Friday, Dec. 18, 3:30 p.m.

Ages 8 and up  

Have an hour? Learn to think like a programmer and write real code at the same time.

Help with Health Insurance Sign-ups

Mondays through Feb. 9

4:30-6:30 p.m.

Event audience: Adult

In-person assisters will be on hand at the free, drop-in events to help people find out if they are eligible for free or low-cost health insurance coverage required by the Affordable Care Act, to help them renew their coverage or to answer questions. Assistance is available in English and Spanish.

Drop in, no appointment necessary.

Early Release Teen Events

2-4 p.m.

Event audience: Teen/Young Adult

Crafty Teens: Wednesdays, 2-4 p.m.

Express your fandom crush, your OTP or create something totally random. No experience necessary.
